how do I disengage the ignition switch from the steering lock?

Hi guys,
I need to replace the ignition switch on my 1985 n/a diesel 110 steering lock-and-barrel.
I've taken the whole assembly off the steering column, but can't seem to get the switch that holds the spade ends and connects to the wires lose from the lock assembly. Should I just pull hard? Or is there a trick to it I don't know about...
