How big, is to big

Hi all.
So I have l320. With 19" rims, but i think they are to small for the speed i drive at.. ( I live Germany) normally on the 200km side of thing's. As I've been looking around, there seems to be no clear answer to what the max size is... some so 20" and other's say 21". I have no interest in going bigger or getting spinners as I'm not a drug dealer
Thanks in advice

Size won't really make a difference in the respect of 19in to 21in etc, the speed rating of the rubber however will..

ZR and Y are the best for constant high speed cruising.. ZR is 186mph max and Y is 149mph iirc.

ZR being the fastest you can get on a mainstream tyre, above that you're looking at specialist race tyres ;)

It does not matter what size of wheels you fit, if you fit suitable tyres to match the rolling radius to maintain correct speedo readings. They will all rotate at the same speed.

Lol. Ok. I missed a a bit of info.. I have the zr rated tyre. It only wears down on the outer and inner edge of the tyre ( tyres are set correctly) the front are worse than the rear, so I thinking the car is rolling over the tyre at speed as I go round the bends on the autobahn. So I was thinking by decreasing the size of the side wall, would help solve this problem.

If it wears on inner and outer edges it is under inflated.

Pressures are correct... I check them every week..
Evidence suggests otherwise. Why not inflate by an extra few pounds to correct it? Are you going by the LR rating plate or the Tyre Manufacturers recommendations? I have found that they differ in the past.

Ive just checked the difference between lr and Pirelli. They are the same pressures!

Listen carefully i will say this only once. If a tyre has a wear band along the centre of the tyre it is over inflated. If it has wear bands on the outer edges it is under inflated, simple as that. There are other tyre wear symptoms but in the interests of simplicity i will leave it at that.

Places like ATS will put N2O instead of air in for you for few quid if your that sort?
Personally in your case i'd perhaps get a slightly bigger profile tyre if it will fit, and for god sake increase whatever pressure it is reading at by few PSI.

Do you put Xpsi front/Xpsi back? The front has weight of engine. Bet I it's only wearing side/side on front tyres

Weight distribution on the P38 front to rear is surprisingly close, may not be so on the newer stuff. Bigger profile tyres will affect speedo accuracy and may not be homologated for the vehicle which could invalidate the insurance.

How they wear on your vehicle is best guide to your tyres. Should be pretty even if you are rolling well.
I phoned my insurance before modifying my P38. I was suprised when they said yes no probs I can have up to 14. :)
My 32" M/T's apparently make the speedo run lower than what I am actually doing

Your car is illegal to drive on the road in that case.
