How bad are they really?

In all fairness I was warned they are very different, and it's not that I didn't listen, I just didn't realise how soft I have become.

Also, when checking it over with a fine tooth comb I was so happy with it I got carried away.

All was good until earlier when I went out in my BMW and used its satnav :(

What can I say, I'm clearly addicted to gadgets :/

Offered it to @timmywo .......................?

I got cold feet with mine just after I bought it, but after a week or two it started to grow on me, then we got that massive cold snap and deep snow of 2013 and I absolutely fell head over heels with the thing. Ploughing through snow a meter and a half deep laughing my head off! Would never sell it now.

Looks like it's now sold but as I was walking around it while he was on phone talking about everything I was instantly falling in love with it again :)

But with 90-95% being road use I have to be realistic as frustrating as that is as the little bit I did off road it suddenly become soooooo different and big smiles :)

Having spoken to Tim, assuming he does have it, I'm just glad it's going to a nice person as its too good for some idiot to own

Assuming that's @timmywo I trust I'll get a matchmakers fee!

Yes, lucky for him he contacted me today as I put posts out this morning and got a lot of interest but now holding it for him so he can come and look at it.

If he has it I think we both owe you a pint, from me for making sure it goes to a deserving person and from him for finding a bargain.

Apparently he was already following the thread from the start mind ;)

I still need a 4x4 and I've owned Nissan Navara in the past so will be looking for either one of those or a Toyota hilux....

I'm so kicking myself but life is about experiences and this will sound really silly but it's the Landy I feel sorry for as it is a great one... Just not for me as my normal cars are Jaguar XF, BMW Z4 etc..... I've become soft without realising it :(

We got a navara after a bad experience with a P38. Then we came back to LR after a much worse experience with ni$$an. depends what you want out of a vehicle, but its your money !!

My issue is almost all road with only the odd off road.... To buy a defender with same comfort level for daily road use it would cost a lot more than I have....

Don't get me wrong, on the tiny bit of off road I did when testing this it was soooooo smooth and felt like it could take on the world and if I had more off road opportunities I would certainly keep it but for only 5% off road use, and even then it's on tracks, it's just a real waste for me :(

@waldamar will be sure to get you a finders pint ;)

My use will be mostly as a workhorse to get around the local town and to our cottage that only has a mud and gravel road - I have gotten 4 cars stuck up there in the last few months and that's without bad weather or snow! Lel concerns lucky don't apply to me, little concerned with the lack of power steering but it seems to be a simple addition and I'm sure ill be fine. The 1k drive to south Poland will be its burn-in test ;)

Ok, so with two 40ltr tanks should get me around 270klm - 1.6k trip to Poland should be 6 refills. Thanks, that's helpful to get an idea!

I got carried away as the chassis is sooooo solid, the paperwork, you couldn't ask for more on, it just ticked all the boxes for an old Land Rover defender.....

I've now realised I need to go back to a Nissan Navara which I've had in the past as comfort with 4 wheel drive....
Slightly confused here.

You've bought an ex-Mod One Ten with a V8 in??? And no PAS? Seems an odd vehicle tbh and not factory by the sounds of it. And it isn't a Defender either. They didn't come out until 1990.

But you've owned it only hours and now want to sell it??? Did you not test drive it before buying?

The whole reason I'm buying is to get my paraglider up the mountains and so went for the best 4x4 I could think of being the defender....

The reality is any decent 4 wheel drive would be good enough for the gradient and surface type I need to cover.
Then why not look at a plusher 110? Most have PAS and most will ride and handle way better than a Navara which uses the same rear suspension as a 1948 Land Rover and a similar 4wd system.

There are of course Range Rover's and Discovery's too, which I think I mentioned to you in your other thread previously...
