Checking the fluids on "beast" and I have found the 5AM airflow meter has no
wire mesh inside! I have found some gauze in the panel under the windscreen
that looks as if it would fit.

It's running/idling fine on both Petrol & LPG, I thought if this was out of
action it would be erratic?

anything to be concerned about? I have a 3AM meter in the shed - will this
be Ok to fit if the 5AM is shafted?

Both my gauzes disappeared shortly after I installed the LPG kit, didn't
seem to bother the running though!

My gauze blew into lots of pieces when i had a back fire. was told by
several people not to both to replace it. Havent noticed any differance to
the running.

I'm not sure what the gauze is there for, to be honest.

I can only comment on what I have heard, as I am involved with an automated
visual inspection of soon to be released, in South Africa, Hilux which has a
flow meter in some of the units air cleaners.

According to the fellows who make the meters, they are quite susceptable to
dust and so the I guess that is why you have the gauze.

Yebut, the meter is downstream of the air filter, so should be getting clean
air, and also the size of the gauze will not prevent dust anyway.
