The transmission overheated oil light just came on! Is it best to just change the oil and filter or is there anything else I can do?

I'm sure that sometimes the problem is partly to do with an over-sensitive temp sender. Not sure how to sort it...goes of for a look see.

It happens that why LR put in a warning light doubtful that fluid change will help, just do what your owner handbook states stop the vehicle and do not drive until it has extinguished.
It's not unknown for the temp sensor to go faulty, u my wish to fit a replacement first.

By all means carry out the oil & fliter change... no harm done, unless it's just been done then it'll harm your wallet. AND DEFINITELY Replace the sender..
