Hi,

Following the Hose pipe ban, I can no longer use my efficient jet wash to spray clean my disco. How they can ban this along with other water users is beyond me, as you can still clean your driveway but not your car, but you can fill your swimmingpool if you are lucky to have one. Not that I have one, maybe I could drive the disco through it for a rinse off :D.

Anyway, just wanted to know if anyone puts their disco through forecourt car washes? I have always handwashed mine.

I really dont fancy having to use a bucket of water to rinse off the suds.

you could rig up a bucket with a hose that goes up yer trouser leg, over yer shoulder and down yer sleeve. it then enters the bucket via a hole made in it for this propose. you would also need a hole for your hand to enter the bucket so that once you have the hose installed you can operate the trigger on the squooshy bit at the end of the hose. using this method you could pretend to throw water from yer bucket when infact you would be using a hose.
just remember to pretend to be filling the bucket up every few throws. i would recomend a tap fixed to a short wooden post for this, then you could move your tap to wherever you are washing yer car.
if this doesn't work then leave it dirty for that added macho look.

its simple you can still clean your drive so park the car on the drive and just say it got in the way

i dont wash mine for some reason with a disco covered in mud on the road everone gets out the way

I use the forcort jet wash's that are money for time not money for a set wash sequence, works realy well for me.

Does your jet wash need mains preasure in or can it suck from say a bucket?
if it does park a large bucket under your tap and let the jetwash suck the water out of the bucket! No hose pipe, just a bucket with a fancy way of splashing it over the car.

after a day off road the best way to wash your car is to find a deep ford and drive tho at great speed

but helpme, we have a ban because we are short of water and there is no rain fall, so A your car won't get muddy and B the fords are empty

No, we have a shortage of water because we are stupid.

3/4 of the world is water, a fact which seems lost on most people.
We just cant be arsed to build filtering stations like in Saudi to harness it.

Yeah Lennys right. When I did my apprenticeship the firm I worked for made shed loads of Desalination plants for turning sea water into fresh water and they ALL went to the middle east.

Regards WP.

Although saying there is a shortage up here, nip down into the gaylander section, there cubby holes and cubby boxes are brimming with the stuff........:D

There's no problem building desalination plants. The problem is paying to run them. The saudi's don't have the fuel cost prices that we have and desalination plants are very energy hungry.

LOL I was thinking of that

thing is you only get caught by the ban if your neighbours report you, so maybe its time to find out who my neighbours really think of me :D

A way round the ban is to wash your car at work ... the ban does not cover commercial premises.

fantastic, didnt think of that, now all i need to do is find the outside tap

could even make a few quid on the side jet washing the other cars;)

We have to do this all the time in the desert, We use hard water from the bore to wash the car in from a bucket but this leaves little calcium marks on it if it dries before you can chamois it off. I use a bucket of tank water to do the final rinse so as not to leave the nasty spots, but you get pretty good at making the bucket full (or two) go a long way.

If you have a good leather chamois, bucket rinsing isnt so bad anyway.

if i was in the desert, id be keeping the water to drink, not to wash the fooking disco!

or do you have 6 cases of fosters in the back?

Think i'll get my waders out and park up in local village ford and wash it in there, probably get pulled in by environment agency for contaminating local drinking water supply.:D
