Hi all, my 200 tdi has developed a fault with the horn.

The horn itself works OK, as I tested it by running wire direct from the battery.

The fuse is also OK.

I am suspecting it must be the switch in the steering column as I do not get 12 volts at the horn when pressing the stalk in.

Any ideas? Or anyone know how easy it is to strip / fix / replace that switch on the stalk?

Could it be anything else?

many thanks

as you've proved the horn itself works (I assume tested in situ so no question of a poor earth) ands the fuse is OK can only be the switch or wiring.

I'd remove the plastic housing around the steering column to get access to the switch and firstly check that no connectors have fallen off.

Assuming they have not, I'd connect 12v straight to the switch feed to the horn - if the horn sounds switch has had it.

Pretty straightforward to swap out - AndyLand did his recently if you need to pm him
