Evening everyone,

We have moved to a part of the country (worcestshire) where the flooding, hills and ice means I have use for a Landrover again. Having had previously a disco 3 I have decided to go with a disco 2, as they are cheaper to get a nicer one.

I found one table and will collect it next week although I am still trying to work out if I am mad. I knew exactly what I wanted and service history was key although I have just purchased a 90k miler that had sh upto 54k and then nothing as it was traded in to a main dealer and they did their usual trick of passing the vehicle on and binning all receipts.

It was a 1 owner car for 14 years and it's in great condition with only really the odd bit of surface rust on the chassis in a few areas but it has been really cared for and it drove that way. It's had a new clutch/ flywheel 1k miles ago and mainly services (according to previous owner) but as it was independent garages they never got the stamps in the book but all the receipts back it up (well they would if dealer had not got rid of them)

So in short I bought something in great nick and drives very well but all the work for the last 5 years is all no longer documented but the condition / drive seem to back it up.

Will change all the fluids as a matter of course but time will tell if the lack of official evidence of sh bites me in the arse!!!

Hope to meet a few people at a meet one day in the future as would like to take the kids green laning

Well picked it up on Wednesday and so far after 200 miles it's been great and my judgement seem so to have been good (well so far)

It's got the noisy dash fan on second ignition and that's it so far but i know stuff will pop up but needed something like this in the hilly area I am in now in the west of worcester :)

Hello Lee,

Welcome to the loonyzone.

As the new owner of a great d2. Makes ure you have the following things.

1) The EKA code.
2) A copy of a workshop manual.
3) preferable a working second fob.
4) Make sure the drivers door lock works with the key.
5) Make a friend who has a nanocom / hawkeye / lynx.

Cheers

Well already it's been invaluable being here :)

Where is the EKA code stored or is that a pop down to the dealer job?
Going to get the workshop manual as not done a huge amount of cars for a while but can hold a spanner if needed and times require it.
Only got one fob (and sign I was mad to consider the vehicle lol)
Will check the drivers door in morning
Looks like I need to try and find someone out the Worcester way then than likes a pint, tea or biscuits for when the car lights up or refuses to start which will happen at some stage i am sure :)

Hi Lee,

Get the Rave workshop manual here , download it to your PC.
Rave01.iso is the file you need to download. includes the workshop manual and the owners manual.

From the owners manual you can learn how to use the EKA code. Follow it to the letter......
http://www.green-oval.com/data/lr/
EKA code should be provided on a security card, if not then you have a few options.
1) Contact a LR dealer with proof of ownership and ask them for it, should be free.
2) Go on line and pay £20...
*** Both these options rely on the fact it has NOT been changed.
3) Find that someone while you have NO problems to read it from the BCU. Using a diagnostics kit.

The second fob, is just a way to make life easier for yourself..... a second fob that works can be purchased , but the car needs programming. Go to point 3 again,

Cheers

Well had it check out as getting all fluids done at a garage and needs a few bits doing but seems like the garage is a very good knowledgeable place so very happy with the choice so.

Needs the following

Some rear chassis welding
Front drop links
Ancil belt
Coolant bung in engine re sealing
Cam shaft seal leaking
Watts linkage
Rear bump stops adding back in
Front to rear brake pipes

Overall not too bad but annoyed I missed the welding but getting it all done so I can keep and enjoy the vehicle for years to come.
