hi ya all. right i am trying to get my hands on a range rover vouge i know of (around 2001 i think) i no pretty much nothing about the car not even if it is petrol or diesel lol. all i no is that it has been sitting for the past 2 years. aparently the "whole wiring loom had cought fire" (highly unlikely i thought, maybe a part of it burnt out or a fuse box but the whole thing i very much doubt it) there has been a window left open and to be honest it is a bit of a mess. has any one got any ideas if there is a comon fault with any of the newer rr looms bursting in to flames????? is the loom overly hard to change???? or do u think i am better off just forgetting it even exists lol cheers

If it's been "sitting" 2 yrs then chances are most of the seals will have to be replaced as often they grow to the shafts etc. If any condensation was in front and rear diff's then they also will be pitted badly, fair to say it will need new seals and cups etc in all brake components as well, and on and on the costs will go.

Aren't the fuse boxes supposed to be prone to burning/melting. Might just be that - I seem to recall reading that they#re not too horrible to replace. As for the rest of it, who knows...

Depends what you can get it for I guess.

Yup, even as parts it'd be worth having if you can get it cheap enough.

Always remember one thing, nothings dead till its burried.......
best thing to do is have a good look at it , find out history ,that will give you some idear how well its been treated ect, in the past, if its been standing for a while there will be a few jobs to do , like brakes, oil , filter, plugs, gear box oil the list goes on ,,,, as for the wiring all looms are mostly plug n play so with a bit of time and paitents should be good ,,,as it must have been driving before it had the miss fortune of the fire, i do know of a rr that had an intera fire a bad one , that was saved , one thing to consider is that you may need to get fault codes read once the loom is replaced,, i'm in kent area so if you would like a second opinion i'm willing to pop down with you and have a look,,,,, Hopt this helps..... Rob .......
