Hi All

I plan on making my own set of off road guards, i will design them and put them on here with all dimensions for anyone with a workshop to make. Does anyone have anything they would like to request me to design?

I wouldnt mind a look at any plans you come up with. I have a pretty good workshop myself and access to my works machine shop and tinsmiths workshop so I can make pretty much anything.

Once I have finished welding the rusty beast up I might have a go at making a fairly standard looking but off road capable aluminium bumper. I was thinking of hiding a winch inside it with an hinged cover hiding the rope rollers so you cant even tell its there.

The usual steering and diff guards are a must as well.

And I need to make a bike rack for my other off roader.

currently planning to do:
diff guards
Steering guard - for disco
Tank Guard - For Disco
and a front bumper with winch mount of somekind - For Disco

Ill be using mainly 3mm steel, some 2mm in some areas

Steering guard, you want a minimum of 5mm. Diff guards also want a min of 5mm. Tank guard likewise. All the stuff I've made has been from 5mm or 6mm.

id have 5 or 6 mm aluminium, but 3mm steel is thick enough with some supports to protect the steering, as any heavier and you will struggle to fit it

If using aluminium, you'll want 8 or 10mm really

was for doing the same myself have started the drawings and hoping to make diff guards steering guards and tank guard for my 2 disco's. Plan on asking the boss to get access to the cnc profile cutter in work

You can cut it out with a hacksaw, angle grinder or cnc laser but the metal you are talking about will be far too thin
