i tried the bolt them in method and the results were crap ! the threaded rivet didnt deform as it should and was loose in the hole it didnt help i couldnt hold the rivet so it was turning inside the hole, no access behind. so i bought the tool to do the job. i aint seen the steel ones ? thought the ally ones would be more suitable for the ally doors. if a jobs worth doin its worth buying the right tools :) if it isnt worth doin borrow them :)

Should have put a dab of super glue or epoxy resin on it before ya fitted em. it stops the buggers from turning.

the propper tool stops them from turning better !!! im a toolaholic. i hate not having a tool for the job im doing and i dont like borrowing tools. i reckon my next tool purchase will be a tig welder ?

You'd better get used to electrocuting yourself if you get one with HF starting... the number of times I've done that by forgetting to earth the workpiece:eek: . They are very tricky things to use - everything has to be perfect.

ta, ive looked into ally welding and theres a special attachment thing that will go into my ESAB mag c251 mig welder. you simply remove the euro mig torch and connect the euro fitting attachment with the ally wire spool built into the hand held torch, connect different gas and your set to weld ally ! the torch uses the mig as the power sorce but the wire feed is all controled from the torch and the wire is on a small reel built into the torch. the guy at engweld in huthwaite told me its about 300 quid for the compleat setup (euro fitting/powertorch) so i reckon im gonna go down this route.
