Hello All, Just responded to a thread I read which brought up the future added Tax on our 1.8 freelanders "Thats Sucks" Well its states that it will be approx £400, which was no surprise to me as I had checked previously and it states as of april 2010 it will be increased from £210 currently for 12 months too a whopping £430 12 months see link

http://www.nicedeals.co.uk/taxsheet....=1.8%20ES%205d

Now checked the Parkers link that was stated and it was actually as of april 2010 exactly the same vehicle 1.8es 5dr. only £245 12months.

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/road-tax/?deriv=19427

Now does anybody seem confused at this stage.... as this throws a differant light on the subject of car tax.. may be well worth checking yourselves..... Have a nice day .......Damien

That link above seems to have expired? Here is what I have just found from the Website of the UK government : Directgov

Cars registered on or after 1 March 2001 (based on fuel type and CO2 emissions)

The rates shown only apply to cars that have been type approved in category M1 and registered on the basis of CO2 emissions measured in grams per kilometre (g/km) driven. These details are shown on the Registration Certificate.

The proposed rises in duty were suspended due to the current economic climate, when they come back on stream, the changes will affect cars registered post march 2001, (formerely post march 2003) Which means my 2.5 V6 will go from £210 to £430.............robbin b******s Cars registered pre march 2001 will be taxed on engine size and not emissions.

Hmm yes I know that the duty is reduced by £25 but given that the car only runs on petrol for two miles in the morning and then (cleaner ) gas the rest of the time the reduction is a bit mean.
On the upside with the 10p off a ltr voucher from my local supermarket its only........39p a ltr :D :D
