alreet everybody,
ive been browsin the web ever since i considered getting a defender, and this site popped up most for nearly all of my questions so i figured you lot know what youre on about.
anyway i finally took the plunge and bought meself a one ten after lookin at a few roper defenders.

so i was blown away by how clean it was, having only spent time working on an airport guiding planes in and helping with beacons etc. dont think it had ever been offroad.
the engine bay was very clean, the chassis was largely rust free, the bulkhead looked rot free and solid from the outside, and the interior was better than most.
so i get all the insurance sorted and go pick it up from yanthelandyman, drive it home and discover the steering was shot (later found it to be lower steering UJ and now replaced it), then doors wouldnt lock or unlock (now replaced a few lock parts and barrels), then car wouldnt start next day (discovered a badly installed twin battery setup (now ripped out and fitted a brand new bosch silverline HD battery). so from then on i was pretty happy and started to take out the mats and paint all the interior in black protective paint, only to discover and 4 inch gash of rust in the driver footwell, a 2 inch hole on the passenger footwell, and a swiss cheese of holes in the passenger pillar. Ive also noticed the bulkhead has had repair panels under the front window, thus why its looked so clean. and yesterday while taking off the horrible mudflaps and braces i discovered that the whole rear crossmember has been replaced and is like new.
oh i almost forgot, the window wipers dont work but im gona do a seperate thread in a minute with that, its not as simple as park switch or motor or spindles, ill explain in the thread.
so ye i bought a land rover, it cost me £118 to fill the tank, ive done 200 miles and its still 3 quarters full, itll do 70 at a push, everything works except the broken bits, and i reli like it.
future plans are 33/12.5/15 cooper st maxx on black modulars, extended arches, samstrim carpet kit, stereo and amp install, cellulose black paint job, and convert the back into a camper setup. aswell as fixin all the stuff i need to do pretty soon.
