Historic vehicle

Right.
I own a 1978 2 door rangie.
It has original plates and id etc.
Has anybody or can i apply to register the rangie as historic vehicle.

How can i prove its an icon and worth historic status?

didnt the government stop the rolling year of the classic status ? I think and if i'm wrong someone will squeal like a pig but it stopped with 1974 vehicles ?

vehicle has to manufactured, not registered, before Jan 1973 to qualift for historic vehicle status.

Thats why you find some 'historic' vehicles on much later plates when the date of manufacture can be proven.

right then so if my rangie was made in 1973 and sat in a field till 1978 im in?

what i want to know is if any vehicles after 1973 been registered as historic?
I under stand the rules.Iwant to know if i can change them and volunteer my rangeie as classic.

Was pretty much the first thing they did when they got in, the buggrz. That's why I had to sell my SIII - just couldn't afford the road tax on 2 vehicles, especially as the SIII only ever did about 100 miles a year.

They're extremely unlikely to backtrack now, especially now they've committed themselves to the scrappage nonsense 'to help UK car manufacturers and save the environment'.

Pay yer £40 for the certificate, if it comes up back saying it was built before 1st January 1973 then you are quids in, if it comes back saying it was built in 1978 (Like i suspect unless it was used as a factory hack to run for one building to another) then all you have it a nice little certificate telling you stuff you already knew about the car.

I think the B o` B has the answer already: change the rules; seems we getting a new parliament next March-ish, so put yourself up as a M.P. You`ll stand a better chance of getting elected if you`re honest about your selfish motives than anyone full of bull-5h!t about public service!

Also one important feature about a historic vehicle (other than that it's historic) is that it's a vehicle. Small consolation, you may be half way there and might be able to register it as an "Historic Piece of ****" under section 12 subsection 32a of the 1982 taxation and registration of Pieces of **** Act.
