Historic Vehicle Tax, V5 etc????

I've been offered a 1968 2a in need of a bit of tlc. It hasn't been on the road for some years and the V5 still has the taxation class down as PLG. Am I correct in assuming that this just needs changing to "historic vehicle" and if so is it just a case of sending the V5 off to the dvla????? Anyone done this??

I used to have an old triumph and all I had too do was take the v5 to local post office that dealt with car tax and they did the rest!

Not anymore. You have to either goto to a DVLA office, or send off the V5 with the class amended to say 'Historic Vehicle'.

Bristol office would only change mine once it was mot'd and insured....
