Hello guys,

Hoping you can help with a bit of advice. I have just upgraded the centre dash console on my 51 plate Td4 and need to know if the old hill descent switch that is on the gear stick can be wired up to the push button switch on the console. The console button has 4 wires where as the gear stick switch has 2 wires. Any ideas anyone .

illumination ? put a multimeter on it, and look for a voltage to earth when the lights are on, then look for a pair which go are either dead short opening or open then going short when the switch is pressed, i.e. changing state. Not sure if it is normally open or normally closed.

The old gear stick switch didn't have any illumination so was just a simple pair of contacts. I think the newer console switch has two wires for lighting it up when the lights are on, and two for the switch contacts.

(just off the top of me head)

Thats great! Had not considered it lighting up.Now i just have to figure out which coloured wires on the push button switch are for lighting and which are for the hill descent. Will muck around with and let you know..
Thanks again for the advice.
