Sold the rangy, now were looking at a 109, its a 2.5 petrol 12 seater, on an L 1972-3, i have been advised not to buy:confused: cos its petrol, but we like it, though i would like to know what you guys think of such a brum brum, whats are the high and low points and whats to watch out for, any advice would be good,

If you haven't owned a series landy before think long and hard. Get a drive in a few if you've got any mates with one. Buying and running a 40 year old landy could be great or it could be a nightmare. Most likely the latter. Choose carefully. Nothing wrong with 2.25 petrol engines apart from being slow and thirsty.

I'm with Hughesy on this mate, If you've never driven one defo get a test drive in a couple first.

Series landies are drafty, slow, have noisy engines, rattle a hell of a lot, are cold in the winter, hot in the summer, require constant maintenance and the petrol's will only get about 20 mpg if you're lucky. But on the other hand I love 'em and so do many other folks round here:D:D:D

I have an 09 Range Rover sport (soon to be replaced with a 2010) i also have a 1979 ex military 109, and i know whitch one i prefer to drive......yep, the 109....smiles per miles.
