24 hours into ownership of a 1.8XEi Freelander and I'm starting to learn the joys of this brand!

Having stripped off a dead VCU this afternoon I have 2 drive train issues remaining and appreciate thought on whether they are linked and which to target first:

1) First is a rotational knock on roundabouts
2) The second is heavy vibration around 60-70mph when under load. The vibration is coming through the body and not the steering wheel. When lifting off the accelerator the vibration eases considerably.

Rotational knock would seem to point to an inner or outer CV Joint but which? I can't feel much play in the drive shaft. Also can't see any visible wear.

Could these both be related to a damaged IRD? There seems to be a small clear oil leak that is saturating the engine under tray. I haven't had a chance to investigate where from yet.

With a worn clutch bearing and a rubbing timing belt cover I'm wondering whether to cut my losses already!! Thanks for any support and reassurance that this journey is worth it!
