Just joined the forum and thought I would say Hi. I have joined as a friend of mine is selling a 1963 series 11 for 1.5k so I think I might take it off him and thought this would be the place to get as much info as I could. It runs and he has used it on his farm to haul rocks out of the river so its still a bit of a workhorse. What do I need to look out for before I buy?

Hi I would expect everything will need looking at on a golden oldie like that. I would start with chassis and bulkhead but my true opinion is if you love it that much just expect to repair or renovate everything. I don't know what parts availability is like for series now but for me its a labour of love.

Yes was planning to do a full nut and bolt rebuild. Not done much research yet but was wondering where the best place for spares was.

Google Paddock Motors, and John Craddock. Many other excellent suppliers are available. But I think those two do most Series bits.

And welcome to LZ. :)

Hi, just been trawling the internet and came across them and several others. Parts look quite cheap so project land rover looks like it could be on. Just have to finish off a mini I'm rebuilding but should be finished in a month.

Series, and older Landrovers in general benefit from fairly cheap parts prices. A lot of the parts are fairly basic pressed steel, maybe with a few spot welds or rivets.
For safety critical stuff, try and avoid the very cheap options, go with the OEM ranges.
