Hi all

Well had my 03 Freelander 1.8 Kalahari for a week now.......... i'm very happy :D

Just a few questions............ When is the cambelt due for change, its on 34,000 miles now.

Are there any good specialist
in the Leeds / West Yorkshire area?

Thanks :)
Mike

Going to have a little look around the forum...............

I read the Haynes manual instructions on how to change the timing belt and it read like i was going to perform brain surgery!

Is there a simpler guide anywhere complete with pics??

Thanks for the info guys..........

I know the manual says 72,000 miles for the cam belt change......

it's only on 34k, just rather have it changed for my peace of mind.......

With my Alfa 156 the service say 72k, but due to failures this is now 36k or 3 years. Don't have much knowledge yet of the Freelander wasn't sure if there was a similar problem with them....

I have a phobia with Cam Belts lol...............

Hi, sorry to butt in on an unfamiliar forum - just noticed your alfa and cam belt post! I think that might be my fault - the cam belt went on my 147 which i had from new a few years ago when it was 2 years old, with 59,000 on the clock (with a 60,000 warranty!!! - how jammy am I) and it cost alfacare just under £3K to repair the damage. The pistons fired themselves through the bonnet! Lovely cr but nothing but trouble - makes the depender seem positively reliable!:D
