Hi all,

Have just taken a big step into the world of Landies, managed to buy one for me and one for the missus in a week - Talk about a leap of faith....

Anyway, having used this type of forum for my bike, I'm already looking for advice....

I have a 2000 Disco, and love it ! However the hand brake must be at its limit. In the past whenever I've had to adjust these on "normal" cars it's been a simple job.. Having read the Haynes manual I'm already having nightmares ! Anyone know either a simple way, or can anyone recommend a good mechanic based in north Herts ?

The missus now has an early Freelander and I can't get hold of it as she guards it with her life..... Should have bought these years ago instead of waisting a fortune on a selection of mainstream euro boxes !

Cheers

handbrake adjust should be easy. If yu look at the rear of the drum , there is us]#[[[['''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' (sorry - cat walked across kbd) usually an adjuster that yu can free off and then adjust. if not, then remove rear prop (8 bolts), remove handbrake drum, and check/replace brake shoes. watch out for them being covered in oil. If they are adjusted correctly then adjust the cable. Also download a Rave manual (do a :search:)

hope yu got a good Hippo - they are a bit suspect.

oh - and welcome to Looneyzone - hope yu got thick skin and a thicker wallet.

Hello Martin ditto the above really, but put the back end up on axle stands then adjust yer hand brake untill your wheels'l still just turn then back off the adjustment a little bit so that they turn free. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp ( sorry dog just walked across the keyboard )
Don't forget to chock yer front wheels first ;)

and welcome to the Looneyzone
