Hi guys,
don't know if this is the right section for this granted its universal but anyways......I got myself a hi-lift and mounting kit (britpart one) just wanted to see if anyone else had this mounting kit as it has 2 'hangers' which are identical but only one has a top piece that actually secures the hi-lift, the image on the site and in the manual seems to say this is what I'm meant to have but it doesn't sound very secure granted I want to mount it on the back of my defender and don't want to drop it on some poor sod driving behind me!

Am I missing a part of my mounting kit or is it cool?

Accessories Catalogue - Britpart - The Quality Parts for Land Rovers Thats the pup, yeah I haven't used mine for actual jacking yet, but I don't have a winch so it seemed like a pretty useful thing to have.

When you look at that pic by the way, the end with the top and bolt on it go at the handle end and the other goes at the base, but obviously hit a bump and the base end would jump off surely. I really hope this mount works as it has a point for a padlock which seems like a really good idea.

Ar, i see. What you need to do is feed the ladder holes in the main part of the jack over the bolt. then you wind on the wing nut. let me see if i have a pic of mine...

...right, on the pic you will see a bolt head. This goes through a metal bracket on the swing away with a wing nut behind that to hold it all together. I imagine you slot the jack into the base plate then with the wingnut removed push the jack over the bolt which will locate into one of the ladder holes. Then just tighten up the wingnut. dont forget to padlock it, stops people knicking them.

that's what i'm looking for, i assume it can be used to mount the jack horizontally as well ?

yeah see I want to mount mine horizontally, and I've had it fitted to the mount that has the bolt through it fine, but the other mount doesn't have a bolt, so it just seems odd that you'd bolt it one end and not the other. Am I making sense? Its pretty hard to explain :(

what the britpart one? or my swingaway? Hi lift do their own mount too :)

G

was wondering if the pucker Jackall clamp can be used horizontally

i've got a hi-lift clamp, the base of it isnt compatable with my Jackall

or should i just throw it in the back along with the other junk

tankduct - If the base will not secure it horizontally then i assume its only meant to be used vertically. The weight of it on the lower plate coupled with the bolt through the top will be enough to hold it. Thats all mine is with a padlock for security.

worth dropping britpart an email to ask if it can be mounted horizontally?
