I suggest that you take your specific query to the Range Rover forum where hopefully someone with a similar vehicle will be able to help.
In the meantime, it sounds as though the electrics are still connected, but that there may be something mechanical awry. So if you have not already done so, I would get some spray lubricant in there first. White lithium grease spray should be a good choice, but WD40 might work if you have nothing else. Certainly worth a shot.
