Hi from near Bristol.

Brand new to LR ownership here and also new to this part of the country. I've jumped in to it with a 110 Puma XS, somewhat different to previous vehicles (M4, i30N, S63) but definitely a much more engaging and exciting things to be driving.

Looking to set it up with a roof rack/tent, diesel heater and somewhat of a kitchen in the back to get off the beaten track a little more and explore the UK/Europe a little more.

I'm definitely lacking in mechanical skill so it's going to be a steep learning curve, however I've done a fair bit of spannering on farm machiner and rebuilt a few motorcycles so it should be achievable. The biggest struggle I've got at the moment is sourcing bits and pieces... There seems to be both far too many sources for everything and the prices vary so vastly.

Priority at the moment is getting some security, I live in a quiet place with almost zero crime but I don't want to be complacent with that or when parking up when I'm out and about. Currently leaning to the optimill removable wheel + boss security lock, feeling like a lot of the other things are great for deterring opportunists but nothing will stop someone who really wants to take the vehicle.

There is a security fred on here worth having a read, Trackers are good if it should go missing. I like the pedal lock plates too.
Hidden switches and that sort of thing, worth the investment but dont tell.

welcome, it sounds like a better car history than mine (Peugeot, Fiat, Citroen, repeat) although this one might be a touch slower than the past motors huh.

Bristol is a cracking place to live, I'm a bit down the M4 from you, but I do like Bristol.

Couple places you might want to consider; the LRO Show in Peterborough in about 2-3 weeks time, don't need to go for whole weekend, just a day wandering through the market might help you find stuff you do and don't need. Also the 4x4 spares day in Newbury: 4x4 Spares Days and Land Rover Events | Land Rover and Vintage Events (Oct 3rd) which is a huge affair in non-covid times.

Without a doubt a slower vehicle but at least it actually feels like an event each time I step in to it, previous cars were fantastic but it's just so rare to be able to enjoy them properly on the roads and so taking a step back from them and buying the vehicle I'd always admired seemed the smart step.

I'm sure Bristol is nice, I'm yet to really venture in to it and instead find myself heading over to Cardiff or Bath instead as I'm actually up about 15miles north west of Bristol and don't much like the drive in via the M32 and much prefer being able to go somewhere via the back roads.

Really appreciate those suggestions, unfortunately I'm abroad for the Peterborough show but the Newbury event sounds like a magnificent way to spend money.

Thanks to the others for the welcomes and suggestions also - Not a fan of pedal boxes or full steering wheel covers, just a big chunk of metal to fly around the cabin in an accident and/or I think I'd be too complacent to bother using it most of the time if it was something rather hefty. Isolator switches in the vehicle certainly sound good though.

When it comes to security, the more the better! Make sure there are lots of visible deterrents like steering locks and pedal locks, with not so obvious thrown in too.

As for,parts, Newbury is great even just for a day out. But FB marketplace and eBay are also good too. Just make sure you’re happy with the provenance and source of any parts you buy due to the thriving market for stolen Landy parts.
