Hi there :)

Im Dan, found the forum the other week as I'm currently looking to buy my first defender.

Im looking for a 300tdi 90 and I'm struggling between a pickup or van back, any suggestions pro's and con's. Its only going to be a toy, doesn't need to be anything other than fun as I have my other car for the practical stuff.

Is there anyone on the forum from around my area as I would be interested in coming to look at some other peoples to see what the craic is. I don't want to go to land rover dealer as I'm not planing on spending that much or going that new.

Anyway already found loads of useful things on here and really wet my appetite with ideas for what I can do with it, any more help in the future will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome! :)

Truck cab pickup is best for a toy.. only get a van if you need it.. way better visibility for off-roading. Converted every one I've had for that reason. ;)
 
Yeah thats what I thought, do they have more issues around rust due to more of the body being exposed? I am quite looking forward to only having two or three seats and not being used as a taxi service :)

Hopefully my other car will sell today and free up some cash so I can start seriously looking :)

Nope. Rear buck is ally so no worries re weather. Cab will heat up nicely in winter too ;)

Ahh thats good to hear, yeah I've bought a new jacket swell, id read that the jacket was required. I think i will be looking into getting new front seats and think i will put a heated set in, can't beat that nice warm feeling :)

There are some lanes north of York… apparently… I've been invited to go laning next year, if they're any good i'll let you know :)

I see you have the same location as me near Hull haha. What landrover have you got?

Yeah i want to get the forum sorted as id like to have a look at some landys to help me pick what i want. And once ive got one id like to do some group days and meets etc :)

Thanks, yeah i found him earlier and i have sent him a message about it, i think they have a Facebook page swell so will have a look on there. I just wana be nosy at a few first to see what i like :)
