Hi everybody. I'm just about to buy another Freelander 1. Bought a 1.8 for the wife a couple of years ago and had all the head gasket issues and after almost two years it died a slow and painful death 
but instilled a love of Freelanders in both of us hence the post. I'm off to look at a TD4 Sport 5 door this afternoon for myself. 2005 with 87000 miles on the clock and is apparently absolutely mint so I'm a bit excited but not holding my breath just in case it's a bucket!
The plan is to have it remapped to 150bhp and 300+nm torque and tidy up any niggles immediately. My current car is a Honda Accord Tourer 2.2CDTI that's given me 208000 trouble free miles so I'm hopeful with a little tlc the Landy will deliver the goods. My wife has now decided that if I'm having one so is she and I've been instructed to find her a TD4 asap.
So now you know the story. Hope you'll all help IF things go wrong
