I finally did it!!
I've bought a P38 Rangy:clap2:
A bit broken but I'm hoping to fix it, it's in the garage awaiting parts so here's hoping. I'm in Garelochhead near Helensburgh (west coast of Scotland) north of Glasgow. Is there someone in my area who can do a diagnostic? I'm changing the ecu on the abs as the car thinks it's doing 60 when idling:mad:
I know that there are many problems but I've wanted a Range Rover for a long, long time and if I don't do it now I'll have to get one in the devils 20;)
I currently have a 3.2 V6 Frontera which I'm very fond of and will keep until I get the Rangy mobile.
Just thought that I'd introduce myself.

ps. Forgot to say that it's a 4 litre with LPG

Hi Datatek

Thank's for the welcome and the info. It looks like there are a few nanocom's on the market but my 97 4L RR would be ok with nanocom evolution 11. Is that right?

They cost about £400 but as you say it will be worth it long term

Regards
Sloan

Make sure you download and read the instructions, don't change any settings unless you have some idea of what you are doing and always write down the original setting before you make a change.:D

Hi, have got the nanocom It's with my local garage and they have got the faults cleared but the car will not run when it's in gear. it just dies so having tried all sorts at great cost I will try a replacement ECU but will the nanocom let me program the replacement ECU or should I just give up and prepare for the divorce:(

Unlikely to be the ECU IMO, need to use the nanocom to look at live data.
If the engine dies, I assume it's auto, there are lots of things to consider.
What faults did your garage clear? No point in just clearing faults, you need to locate and rectify the cause.
Power problems are often the MAF, you can try unplugging it after starting the engine and see if it improves. Also look at the fuel trims.
Frankly I'm not sure your garage know what they are doing with your car.

Hi yes they are just the garage I use for the cars I have and have used them for years but they are honest and don't profess to know the RR very well. I will try the MAF, also I heard that champion spark plugs might help.
There is a shortage of R R garages in Garelochhead (G84) but I am determined to get to the bottom of this problem with your invaluable help. Many Thanks
John

Got it. And its going for mot on Thursday so I might take it to London at the end of the month if it's ok and the gas gets a service :clap2:
