Hello everyone.

I'm new here as we've just bought a Freelander TD4 ES (which came with a new BMW engine - one that had done 55k when put in). I am not new to landie ownership though as I've had a SIIa for about 13 years. I only drove it about once before dismantling it as my Dad and I set about a project build. School, work, moving away from home have meant that it's now in about 3 different locations spread around Sussex. one day....

anyway, here is the new motor. Bought to replace our 3 door FixItAgainTomorrow as we set off growing our family with a new addition due this year.

couple of quick questions though:
1: How does this prop set-up look underneath? Seems pretty tidy to me, but not sure what it's supposed to look like.

2: Clutch pedal seems to have a bit of travel in it and sits about 2-3 inches further forward than the brake pedal. is this usual, and does this greasy mess look about right?

On a lot of cars not just Freebies or indeed Land Rovers, the clutch pedal sits higher than the brake. Probably indicates wear, but not been a problem for me until it started to slip (2.8 injection Capri).
No idea if the greasy mess is ok or not, but I'd be looking at the rubber boot to the right of it in the photo. Has it been sliced to fit that shaft? tut tut
