Hi everyone,

I'm new to LZ and I'm planning to buy my first Landy within the next month! It won't be my dd, I'll be using it mainly for recreation but will need to do longer journeys (200 miles +) in it every so often.

I've been looking at ex mod 90s for about £3500. I've read these top out at 65, will it be happy enough sitting at 60? Has anyone tried fitting their push bike in the back of one? I'd prefer not to have to take the front wheel off my bike.

I live in west Cumbria so I'm also thinking about joining Westlakes 4x4 club. Does anyone know if it's good fun?

Any advice in what to watch out for when buying my first Landy would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Hello again

I found an put down a deposit on a defender 90 pickup with a 200tdi engine. Everything looks really good (the body is a bit beat up) the chasis, bulkhead and cross member looks good apart from one exception - see the attached jpg.

I am unsure how or why it is kind of torn, looks a bit like it has been folded back to get access inside the chasis. The picture is from below at the drivers side.

The guy said he would have it fixed before I picked it up next week and I had a good look over the rest of the chasis.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Difficult to tell but it looks like it's been plated around the curve (far right of pic) and the next plate has come off! Which doesn't say much about someone welding  The cracks continuing to the left at the corners are stress cracks caused by flexing of the weakened chassis.

Can be repaired but needs doing properly......tread very warily
