I have just become a member of the Landyzone site, I wondered if anyone can help please?
We recently purchased an amazing Discovery TD5 in fabulous condition with seven seats (the children adore this), but the rear passenger door fails to unlock from both the remote control and the dashboard button, but will open if you pull the internal handle twice. As myself and my wife are new to Landrovers we wondered if this is a common thing and is it easily fixable?
Any help would greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Sounds like an actuator has failed, does any noise coem from the inside of the door when you try to unlock it using the fob / dash button?

Oh, and also, make sure you have the EKA code.

Cheers
Hi and thanks for the quick reply! Yes there is a motor wining noise coming from door in question when I press key fob, also what is a EKA please?
Thanks again.

No problemo, also do try your drivers door lock using the key.

The alarm may go off, but it is good to make sure the door key lock works, if it is tight do not force it, stick some lube in it and leave it a while to work.

Cheers

Thanks, will give it try in the morning, really appreciate advice, will let you know the outcome!

Almost certainly the actuator has failed. Can be a PITA to replace but easily diy. You might have to undo the window frame IIRC to get the clearance. You'll need torx bits as well

Morning, just a quick email to say thanks! I tried locking and unlocking the car yesterday with the key (we have always used remote) and problem door lock sprang into life and works perfectly now! Many thanks as we were preparing ourselves for a visit to the local garage to rectify prior to your suggestions. So thank you.

Well , not sure why that would work.:) ...LOL but nice to know you have fixed the issue.

Reason I suggested to try the lock was in case the door barrel was seized and your fob fails. Life becomes noisy and awkward at that point.

Hi guys, don’t know if you have had a similar quandary but we are trying to fit the side steps onto our Discovery TD5 but there is a mud flap in front of the rear wheels, on both sides, but I need to remove this to fit the side steps, is there any reason why we shouldn’t do this? Maybe a silly question but any pointers woukd be helpful! Thanks!
