Thanx for the kind welcome (from most people). Went out for a couple of hours today searching for lanes by myself. Strayed up a few private drives by mistake but found a few. Good feeling indeed.

welcome to the forum, but you are going about the green laning the wrong way.until you know the lanes etc, always go with a buddy in case you get into trouble etc.;)

Respect your being alone comments but no need for concern. All lanes were flat, no drop offs to side, had plenty buildings around and at worst I could have broken down and have an hours walk home. Plenty of phone signal too.

I hadn't been drinking heavy lol. Trust me, I'm a noob not a nob I was in more danger on the roads than the lanes.

haha. Over confidence, I'm sure no one will remind you of that when it goes wrong.

Welcome to the forum but you kind of are going about it all the wrong way.

Being a self confessed noob, have you read the stickies at the top of the section? ;)

Hi all. New to the forum. Just saying hello

Thanx for the welcome but you may have got the wrong end of the stick. I'm new to greenlaning, not driving, having common sense and grey matter between the ears and life in general. Read my posts a bit more before commenting. I was on flat earth not half way up a mountain. Biggest threat to me was being savaged by an irate sheep where as en route I was subjected to dueling with 40ft lorries, teenagers in hot hatches, blind sunday driver pensioners pulling out on me and oncoming traffic of a combined speed of over 100mph. Give me those lanes from hell all day long

i know what you meant. i know your not new to driving, you mentioned it in a previous post. You would be suprised how little effort it takes to get a 4x4 stuck.

I pulled a guy off a lane a couple of years ago who had gone out on his own, the lane was completely tame(we don't have anything difficult in the midlands!) he had simply buried 2 wheels in soft ground and become cross axled, on a flat lane. It turned out he was illegally driving a bridleway but thats another story.

What were saying is, it dosent matter how good you think you are, it can happen to us all, and it has.

Were not trying to take chunks out of your manliness, I'm sure your very manly and super dooper and all that.

I am aware of how easy it is ti get stuck due to understanding basic physics and that is why my car has a winch fitted and carries recovery equipment such as rope, straps, shackles and a ground anchor. Why the need to abuse people? Have you had a drink? A row with her indoors perhaps?
