Hi Spud,

Hello and welcome to the loonyzone.

3 bits of advice for a newbie D2 owner,
1) get a spare working key fob if you do not have one.
2) Know what youe EKA code is, and how to use it.
3) Make friends with a nanocom owner.

Cheers

Hi Spud,
Hiya and thanks.

I got the working key fob now. £100 lighter.

The EKA code what is that? Excuse my ignorance.

And nanocom too. What is that too? Clearly got loads to learn.
Cheers.

Hi Spud,

OK,

Why did a fob cost £100?

a spare should only cost £20 if you know someone with a nanocom. ( it would be a Rover 75 fob, but will work).

An EKA code is your get out of jail , get you in the vehicle if the fob fails or the rf receiver fails. You may have a credit card sized card with a 4 digit security code on it, there is a description of how to use it in the owners manual.

A nanocom is a diagnostic unit that is designed for LR products ( other manufacturers are available). Find a person who has one , it could save you a fortune or help you to fix a problem.

Hi ya
The £100 was key fob new key cut and programmed to the car. Tbh. Seemed the going rate in my area.

The EKA code I'll have to look for in the paperwork I got when I got the car. I had to buy another owners manual off eBay as there wasn't one in the landy. Not seen one I have to be honest. Is this something I can obtain from Land Rover?

And re nanocom. I googled I now understand that bit cheers. I'll look into finding someone who's got that.
Many thanks.
Spud.

Hi Spud,

EKA code can be got from a LR dealer if you have proof of ownership.

If you need a spare fob, look on ebay for a R75 / 45 key fob ( electronic internals). Get a new housing and blank key blade. when you find someone with a nanocom ask them to program it for a cup of tea and slice of cake. The only concern is that the passive immobiliser will not work but that is a small problem. the fob will unlock the door and disable the alarm and allow you to carry on driving.

Cheers
