I have a p38 Range Rover, that turns over and tries to fire for about 2-3 seconds and then just turns over and stops firing does anyone know what is wrong and how I could fix it please thanks in advance

What is wrong is that it is a P38 Range Rover! ;) :D
Post it in the rangie section, they will sort it! :)
 
It comes down to either fuel, air and spark when a petrol engine doesn't want to start. Sputtering a bit to start says you are getting fuel (but maybe too little or too much). Start with pulling a spark plug after trying to start it and see if the plug is wet or dry.
And make sure the battery is up to snuff. Do you have a volt-meter?
