Hi folks,

Disco 1 200tdi calliper bolts and also the bolts holding the discs to the hub assembly have 12 point heads.

As they are odd thread pitch, i cannot pick up replacements locally and i need to get the car put back together this weekend. Not even Land Rover have them in stock! I have the bolts i need, but they are hex heads. So the simple question is; will this make any difference?! Is it ok to use hex heads as replacements?

I plan to order up new 12 points for the callipers and swap them out next week (only for a matter of completeness) but obviously the ones on the discs can't be replaced until next time i have the hub assembly off.

As long as they are the same grade as the originals, the head won't matter. They use that head and Torx head screws for machine assembly.

Make sure you have clearance to get a socket over the hex head, or use high-grade cap-head bolts.

you need ftc3375 , they are special bolts with an exact size shank to ensure dowel fit ,unless you can find some like that as well as tensile strength

So would they have a tighter tolerance than normal bolts? Or are they just a standard bolt with a fine thread? I could always put in the bolts i took out - they are not that bad i guess (unlike the calliper bolts, but they are easy to change later on).

my mistake i was talking about the cailper bolt, but same applies to disc bolt shank is a specific length , as i understand they are a std pitch m10 x1.5 ftc1368, you can use them again several times as long as showing no signs of damage
