Hi all,
I did use the search function but cannot find anything on this problem.
Basically nearly every button on the Hevac panal is lit up and nothing apart from the motor 'wheel' seems to work.
Even one of the heated seats is lit and will not sitch off. The other heated seat switch does nothing. Odd?

Sounds like it's gone dolally to me. You could try disconnecting it for a while til it loses it's memory then reconnect and see what you have. Maybe it has gathered some moisture from somewhere, try warming it to dry it out. But most likely knackered.

I did wonder - seemed a little too knackered!
Thanks for the feedback. I am looking for a wood one anyway so a good reason to switch now :)

Plenty on eBay but not cheap make sure you get the right one for your year of car. You cannot fit the latest version to an early car without playing with relays. They switch the compressor differently. Early one switch compressor direct later one need relay 3. Or at least a bridge across it.

There is only one backlight bulb suggest you change it.

Also, make sure it's not part number JFC101890 as it has a software issue.

I know, because it's fitted in mine.

There's info on the following site and I've included the relevant extract below.

Range Rover P38 Maintenance repair improvements and tips learned by experience by ownership.

'I now reverted back to my original HEVAC unit witch have the part number
JFC101890 since I suspected that I had changed this unit unnecessary due to
the inaccurate shimmed clutch that fouled me.

Now everything worked almost perfect, the only issue was that every time
I started my RR the HEVAC started with a snowflake symbol and displayed
0deg Celsius, I then had to drive for a few minutes and then turn of and
restart the engine to get correct readings, occasionally the problem went away
by itself after a few or more minutes of driving.

After investigations it showed up to be a service letter available for this particular
problem, this service letter stated that a programing error in the HEVAC chip is the
cause to wy the HEVAC control panel nead some time to get awake hmm mm..'

Thanks, great tips!

Take the old one out and look at the part number on the back of it. Try and get one to match it. If not a JFC102550 should do it.

Will the wood versions have the same part number I wonder?
Out of interest is there a good online parts system available for Range Rovers?

The wood version just has a trim on it. Mine has walnut trim. Genuine stuff like mine is seriously expensive. It's an alloy plate with Walnut bonded to it. Just attaches with double sided trim tape. One of the items on eBay looks to be genuine the other plastic stick on but not sure. They do not give part numbers though you would have to ask.

Great help - clear on what I need to do now.
Will keep an eye out and contact a local breakers I have been given details of too.
Engine the priority to sort, but cannout hurt to keep an eye out for this stuff too.

Try emmotts theres a link at the top of this page there a landyzone sponsor and they break rangies

Thanks, will do!

I just went and had a fiddle - fault is odd in that although all lights are lit up wheni press them they do actually seem to do their functions.
Clearly not well though!
