Help!!

Hi Everyone

Just bought a series landrover off a deceased relatives family - and need a lot of help!!

I pick it up on march 25th and basically don't have a clue - i've always wanted one of these and can't wait to get going, it is in pristine condition having just had a total rebuild ( unfortunately then the chap died...)

So does anyone know what model it is and more importantly, can anybody please post how to fit a car stereo to it?!?

Sure it's not a Series III? Got a year of manufacture on it? More pics?

N reg would make it a August 74 to July 75 so it would be a Series III

dint 3's have a plastic grill and 2a a mesh grill that yer can cook yer breakfast on?

Yes but the series II grills fitted III's and lots of people retrofitted em. If his reg number is right then it's a Series III

ah was thinking that if its in as good nick as it looks then it will still be original

If it's original then it's an early II as the later ones also had the Plastic grill fitted. Need to know it's age really.

If it's got an N plate on it must be a III. You cannot put a reg plate on a vehicle to make it look newer than it is, you can only use older plates.

if it wur an earlier model and not registered till '75 would it not have a 'N' plate? as pikey sez we need more info.

dashboard!! is the 11a dashboard still in the center and the 111's in front of the driver avec padding

I'm told it is definitely a 1974 swb (and my uncle reckons its a "lightweight" - however it has been completely rebuilt by the chap before he died - not a spec of mud on it and done about 20 miles in the last year he reckoned, anybody know a spiritualist medium?? he'd be the best person to ask...

I canot get anymore pictures untill i get it on 25th march, however it does have a strange back door - is a bit like the back of a pick up i.e where a normal door has hinges on the side this opens from hinges on the bottom and lays flat - with the back window opening seperately if you want to hang the dog out of it - does that help??

its not a lightweight, and yer body style can be changed easily so it may have come out the factory with a normal door and had what yer got retro fitted. if its '74 then its a 111

as i sed before i think all 11 and 11a's had a central dash and the 111's had it infront of the steering wheel

thats what i thought, silly uncle...

Split tailgates (what you've got) were available as an option when it was new. and were often sold to farmers/country folk. etc because they were more convenient than a side opening door as you say you can have the dog in the back and either not have the upper tailgate on at all or keep it raised. also the lower tailgate makes an handy seat/workbench.
