Help!

I have a 1993 k reg defender truck cab it has only done 65000 miles,after a recent oil and filter change the engine has started to make a ticking sound which sounds exactly like the tappets, but it isn't because I checked them (they were a bit loose) and the noise was still the same, anyone got any ideas? Thanks

slightly blowing exhaust manifold.... quite often makes a tick tick tick sound

try gettin a mate to start it from cold whilst your head is under the bonnet, you may get a tell tale puff of smoke, but if its only very slight prob not...

check yer vacuum pump too - they can make that kind of noise when they're on the way out.
