i am running a 2.5 td 90. i have had a new head bolted on. went to MOT the bugger a couple of days ago and failed on emissions, on tick over there is white/greyish smoke which it never did with the old head.also heavy black smoke on hard acceleration. anyone got a good idea of what is going on

Black smoke is soot - either too much fuel or too little air. If it's really thick and black your exhaust temps are going to be too high - might cause your valves or piston crowns to fail early.

Greyish white smoke is probably unburnt fuel - as this is at tickover, i.e. when there's no positive boost pressure to increase the available oxygen for combustion, it sounds like you're over-fueling dramatically or the pump timing is way off.

CharlesY is probably the best person to ask about adjusting it on a TD engine.

Cheers,
