hi all, found this by chance and would like someone to tell me that I am not mad.
Just purchased a 2000 discovery 2 , 52,000 on the clock , only one owner with
all paperwork ( mot, service history ,etc ) the only thing I can see is a dink in
the drivers door. My question is am I mad to get it , it’s a dt5 by the way.
All thoughts will be appreciated, I do appreciate that it is not a new motor
but have a got myself a lifetime of living in my garage, I have always had old
motorcycle and fixing them but have I just got bigger problems now with this .
Thanks for any thoughts. Jim

I think you mean Td5! ;):)

Shouldn't be a problem as long as the chassis isn't too rusty, plenty of life in D2s yet.

And welcome to LZ!:)

To buy a Landy requires a certain amount of madness so welcome to the club.

As long as it starts and runs and you know one end of a spanner from the other, you’ll do fine :)

Welcome to the forum.

Like the last fella who was worrying himself out of buying a Land Rover, read all the horror stories you like about whatever mode of transport you want and then you'd never leave the house.

If it's nice and you want it then buy it, if you don't then rest assured someone else will.

Welcome to LZ BTW

Welcome

Sounds great, but could be a nightmare, without crawling over it who knows.

As said , check the chassis, make sure the electrics work, make sure all warning lights do the precheck they should.
Make sure you know the EKA code.
The driver door lock can be unlocked using the key.
find a friend with doagnostics
Download the rave workshop manual.

Change all fluids and see what happens.

Cheers

You may not yet understand the importance of this.

Hi and cheers, sorry about the miss name but it was close.
Haven’t got my hands on it yet but have had a good look round it and it all
looked very good. Was told it was well looked after , one owner from new
and it certainly looks like that. I am getting it wax oil and undersealed
and ready for winter before I start using it.
Again cheers jim

Welcome Aboard :)

I am getting it wax oil and undersealed

There are way better products than waxoyl, and I'm hoping you are using this as a term, rather than the actual product. A search on here will tell you loads and loads about the subject.... ;)

Avoid underseal at all costs - it traps moisture against the panels and will rot them for fun

Yuck!

Don't cover it in waxoyl, horrible stuff archaic isn't the word....

Dinitrol is much superior.

Oh and welcome..

Expect anything and everything in between both bumpers to be an issue, that applies to all LR's ;)
