thanks for your help in advance.i have a 2000 freelander td4 auto.the problem i have is for the last month or so my cars blow heater will only work when it wants.it will be ok then all of a sudden it just stops, then other times when its working if you try to turn the heater up it cuts out again.also last week i noticed that when i turn the engine off even after just a short run it sounds like the fans still running as though its hot when its not.also i noticed my coolent level dropped so i topped that up.there is no leaks that i can see and engine oil looks fine.the car is driving ok and not over heating.iam not very mechanically minded and would be gratefull for your help.thankyou:)

My mum has a 04 freelander and it makes the same noise like the fans r running when she stops, it has done this since she got it about 2 years ago and still has not caused any problems hope this helps bud

Hi, and :welcome2:

Try checking in the driver's footwell.

Left of the clutch pedal there are a bunch of wires that connect to the heater motor. It's possible that these have accidentally been dislodged by your feet.

I did this once when wearing steel toe-cap wellies.

The 'smart' guys on here will recommend a variety of solutions ranging from 'burn it' to 'get a Defender'. These guys wear bigger boots and need room for pigs snouting around on the floor.....

Ignore them - they are jealous of a vehicle that doesn't let the weather enter.

The radiator cooling fans have a mind of their own - controlled by elecktrickery they are.

Good luck. :D
