Hi, to all i need some info could any one tell me what diesel engine/ gear box can be fitted to a 1975 2.3 109, i have the oppertunity to buy this but would just like to know what to look for. Thanks Geoff. Ps will the fuel lines need changed etc.

Geoff I could be wrong and I'm sure there's plenty of folk on here know better than me.

But I'm fairly sure you can fit just about any engine and corresponding gear box into yr 109 it's just a matter of how much fiddling about/welding and general bodging you want to do.

If you know little or nothing about Landrovers for godsake take someone with you who does to look at it. cos it's not like your ordinary car.

Oh and welcome to the forum it was nice of you to drop in and introduce yrself ;) :D :D

Thanks for the help, i know a little i used to instruct on theses in army days but its been a long time i wouldnt attempt a change my self but if the rest of it is ok, should be fine i would get some one to do it, still would like to know wich engine would be best to fit. I wont be going off road or anything as it is a Flure de lys van, on a 109.

tdi seems to be a popular changeover - though this needs some adjustments - have a browse on those threads. That should give you circa 35mpg, but a very noisy trip. If you are just pottering locally, just leave it as it is!

diy costs are around £600. you will need fuel lines and tank.
