I've got a loose pipe on my TD4 and despite looking and looking and even buying a Haynes manual, I don't know what it is and what it does and where it fits.
Its a braided pipe that runs alongside the fuel injectors - it became detached when taking off the filter housing.
Looking at the front of the vehicle it is attached somewhere on the right hand rear of the engine, then runs alonside the fuel pipes, and is currently dangling down the left hand side.
Starts okay, no warning lights on, no nasty noises. Surely it has a use and should be attached to something.
Can anybody help?

Not quite sure if you're talking about the egr vacuum pipe which sits at the rear of the air filter between it & the bulkhead or if you've disturbed one of your leakoff pipes from the injectors. One end of the vacuum pipe is supposed to be open & the other connects to a small filter which resembles a fuel filter of old. If it's a leakoff pipe you've disturbed then the car will still run ok but the affected injector(s) will spill excess fuel out slowly instead of returning it which will cause quite a mess & more importantly get into all the wiring etc. Best to provide a piccy or diagram.
