I have been looking for tyres for my n reg disco and was wondering what to get .
I do lots of motorway driving and want to do a bit of light green laning so m&s tyres would be out of the question because of the high temperatures they would reach on the motorway ??

also can i fit defender steel wheels on the disco ?

thanks

andy

I got general grabber AT 2's on my Disco'. I also do lots of M-way miles, and green laning from time to time. Went out playing in the snow we had at the after crimbo and there wasn't a hill we struggled with T/C only kicked in a couple of times.
In my opinion they give good all round performance on and off road, with very little road noise and little effect on Mpg.
I paid £125 each, fitted and balanced.

General grabber AT2's on mine as well, but BF Goodrich's are worth a look as well

Either will do what you are asking for

BF Goodrich AT's .. work well on any surface but as usual with any AT's they can be a bit skitterish on wet tarmac, and they last a long time.

Mine average 20k then I flog 'em on ebay for ~£200+ ... last set went for £250 .. which offsets the cost of new. Only reason I replace them at 20k (They still have about 6 to 8mm tread) is that the edges round of and off-road grip suffers slightly.

i have got hold of 4 15 inch rims one with no tyre 3 with conway 31-10.5-15 i have put two on the disco to see if they fit and they dont foul the brakes, i can get full lock etc, but cant take it for a drive as i dont have 4 wheels & tyres the same size.

the arch clearance is a lot less, will need to lift the suspension ?

or will i need to get the angle grinder out ?

i have done a number of searches on here and google but cant find a straight answer if these wheels will fit

if the wheels fit ill order new bolts for steel wheels

ps. the disco is for road use at the min but want to take it off road and when i do i will lift the suspension but for now i havent got the money to do so
thanks

andy

I run 31 x 10.5 R15 BFG AT's on my Disco. They foul the rear valance bit, bt fine everywhere else on stock suspension. If you're bothered do a 'Camel Cut' ... check what the Camel Trophy Disco's looked like and cut accordingly. I didn't bother ... ;)
