You dont need a plug in it unless you go wading. And if you fit one, you should periodically pop it out to drain any oil that may have collected in there. There is another one in bottom of the timing cover housing, right at the front of the engine.
If you do plan to go wading. Its a good idea to fit a snorkel and wading kit for all your breathers.
