Hello everybody!
We recently bought a 1971 109 Station Wagon series IIa without any experience in Land Rover at all. It was one of those moments when the rational part of your brain gave up fighting your heart. True love you can call it.
However this is the day after (actually the week after) and we really need to be encouraged since there´s a lot of work to be done with the car before it´s street legal.
Alright, here´s the deal...
we tried to start the car for the first time today. (By the way - we did this AFTER we bought it = total faith in the engine) The car started right away with some start gas and a fresh battery! That means the fuel pump is ok! Next thing was the brakes where we probably need to buy new brake shoes. Seems to be a minor problem. The big thing will for sure be to fix the rust problem. Some questions:
1. Which repair manual is the best? Easy to understand and with lots of illustrations/photos? Is it available in digital form?
2. Is there a way of removing parts of the body from the chassies? If you look at the pics you´ll see that it´s severely damaged on the back of the car. The front part is really ok, but from the back side door it needs to be welded both underneath and on top hence we need to remove the body. Is this procedure descibed somewhere on the forum or in a repair manual?
ALL ideas tips and tricks are very welcome!
Regards from Sweden and please forgive us if the language is a bit rusty too. After all, it´s been a while since school days
