Help - Swivel Hub Preload adjustment

I've encountered my first problem with my rangie - nearside swivel hub oil seal is leaking. Having read the workshop manual I'm concerned that I don't have access to the preload tension adjustment tool required for the ABS hubs. Has anyone any experience of setting up the preload? what did you use? Should I be taking this to a garage? It drives so nicely I don't want to muck it up!

If you want to be a perfectionist, get a spring balance from your local Ironmongers and use that to determine the amount of pull required-make sure it is within the preload range in lbs. Alternatively , reduce the shims until you can feel a slight amount of drag when you move the hub, it's obviously not easy to explain in writing, just use your instincts-if in doubt, get a second opinion.

Thanks, I was concerned that Land Rover only suggest using a spring balance for non abs hubs and I didn't understand why. I'll get cracking
