hi folks

beating my merry way home tonight and suddenly my 110 300tdi strts running like a bag of hammers and chucking smoke out of the exhaust - it's just managing to idle - feels like its missing a cylinder. naturaly i pulled over and checked the oil - it's not lookng like the cylinder head / gasket and on later inspection the coolant level hasn't dropped either.

i'd more or less just filled up - could it be bad fuel? could it be air in the fuel?

i've had a look at the book of lies and it's a bit vague - any ideas? anyone else had this happen?

any pointers would be great

blown piston, knackered head gasket, dropped valve, fooked injection pump, blocked fuel filter knackered turbo, split turbo hose, delaminated turbo hose, the list is pretty endless really.

Could be head gasket blown between an oilway, Try a compresion test, If 1 cylinder is alot less than the other 3 its a head, piston, block problem. If they are all arond the same its back to the endles list above. Its going to be a process of elimitaion really.
Good luck.
