I've been overhauling a TD Defender 90 (1987 year). The engine doesn't start. The lights work ok. When I turn the key there is a single click and nothing more other than a slight dimming of the lights.

The solonoid and wiring was checked, the battery is fully charged (the solonoid was replaced a month ago). Do I assume that there is a starter motor issue or could it be the solonoid (again) or anything else? Help!

sounds like solonoid/started , but hows your engine earths looking ?? id check- re check them again , you could try using a jump lead from the neg of ya batt to the engine block and seeing what happends .
If she spins then you know what the prob is :) .
