Looks like EGR cooler thermostat

No idea myself, I try to avoid doozles.

Marjon I believe has the TDV8 so good chance he knows.

As said, if it's broken then it needs replaced

Not been in amongst mine but.
Is it the thermostat bypass relief valve?
Is it a one way valve spring loaded so if it opens fluid would come from engine then join to the main thermostat housing after it?

think we discuss one in the lower hose as some time.

Well I think it's the cause of the pipe blowing off

May i ask a daft question plse

could the wrong cap fitted on the extension tank also cause hoses to blow off etc plse

If the pressure setting of the cap is too high, it will have no effect unless there is excess pressure in the system, in which case something will have to give.
