Help Please Help

I Just Bought A 2000 Landrover Discovery With 72,000 Miles, Has Heated Seats, Dual Moonroofs, Jump Seats In The Back, Bought It For 12,400 With Tax. I Want To Use It As An Family Car, I Bought It For 1 Reason And That Is Safty. Now That I Am Reading These Forums I Am Noticing All These Problems, What Should I Do, Will The Car Last Me A While? I Bought It From A Volvo Dealship, It Has Its Service Records, Its Been Kept Really Nice, (like None I Have Seen, I Have Been Looking For One Sense August Of 2004). All I Want IS The Car To Last Me Is A Good 5 Years, (IM NOT GONNA TAKE IT OFFROADING OR ANYTHING, MAYBE TWICE OR SO IN THE 5 YEARS, NOT GONNA MAKE ANY MAJOR TRIPS EITHER. DAILY MILES WOULD PROBABLY BE FROM 1-14 MILES. Do You Think I Made A Good Decision? Or Are The Repair Costs Gonna Kill Me?

I think if you read any forums for any popular cars, you will come away with a feeling like that. You must remember, people usually only use the techy forums to help them sort out problems or help other people with problems.
Not many people start a thread just to say how good their car went today!

Theres no reason why you shouldnt enjoy your Discovery for many years as long as you service it regularly, the same with any car. Using the car for short trips only like you say may cause more wear than longer trips as the car will not regularly get up to temperature, and, you wont enjoy it as much!

These cars are built to travel long distances on good and bad roads, if something breaks, its usually pretty cheap to get it repaired, there are lots of specialists out there.

I`ve had my 93 Disco for about 5 weeks, with 5 days spent in the garage, and I have covered almost 2000 miles in it. It has 139,000 miles on the clock and I expect it to cover almost the same again.

If I were you, I would use yours to its full potential and enjoy it.

Sorry hadn't finished typing, you've bought a great car, there are thousands around and you should botice that most of them are in better condition than most other cars of the same age.

By the way, I'm sure if you make regular visits to these forums, look at the pic's you'll soon get bitten by the mud bug.

cant see why not ove got a 200 tdi with nearly 300,000 miles on the clock i spend as much time off road as on it & tow a two horse trailer with no problems paddocks are the cheapest place for most parts good luck
